Day 3: ICE BECOMES MY FRIEND

ICE BECOMES MY FRIEND

The above picture is a reality!!!  This is how I looked within 5 minutes of rehab today.  This is the first day that I have had to use ice and I probably should have expected to use it from the beginning, but honestly I am pretty dense (actually stupidity was where I was).
The third day is always supposed to be the hardest is what I have always been told and actually experienced.  Today, the third day; was honestly a "bitch."  I woke up in extreme pain and my knee hurt to the touch.  I am now committed to this and I have a goal.  My mind is telling me that I am beyond stupid and I have an excuse to stop, but my heart is saying you must continue.  My heart won out, but the mind NEVER STOPPED telling me I was stupid.
The rehab was extremely difficult.  Within 30 seconds of running, the pain level was off the scale.  My knee hurt worse then when it did before the surgery (and I quit on a few of the days prior to surgery).  It took about a half mile for my body to get used to the pain or for it to subside enough that I wasn't focused on it.  I never stopped during this whole process and my advise to each of you that are reading this to not stop either when the pain is tough.  You will make it through and you feel a whole better when done.  You will probably hurt but you will know you can get through it.
The third day of rehab ended worse than day 2, but today I really feel like I am on the right track.  Ice was my friend after and I am sure tonight before bed it will be again.  But I know that I can do this.  If you are rehabbing, like me; don't stop.  Set goals and then focus on them when you are in pain and want to quit.
